Margaret is survived by two children and their spouses, John and Kristine Gallant, Escanaba, MI Mary and Greg Krehbiel, Suamico a daughter-in-law, Robin Gallant, Green Bay eight grandchildren and their spouses, Ellen and Peter Brehm, Caroline and Ivan Majias, Leslie and Jerry Petasek, Andrew Gallant, Margaret and Justin Paul, Taylor Gallant, Adam and Greta Krehbiel, Katharine and Gavin Klingonsmith ten great-grandchildren, Alice and Edgar Petasek, Joshua, Ella and Lauren Klingonsmith, Lily Krehbiel, Connor and Aiden Paul, Sara and Rachel Brehm other relatives and friends. Margaret enjoyed the time spent with her children, grandchildren and family and was an avid Packer fan. She was a member of Annunciation Parish for many years. They enjoyed more than 45 years of marriage until Joseph preceded her in death in July of 1991. 27, 1945, Margaret was united in marriage to Joseph Gallant at Fort Meade, MD. In 2001, he and his wife Gayle retired to Spruce Head Island, Maine, the culmination of decades of summer family vacations on the coast of Maine. He was a voracious reader and a lover of all types of music until his last days. He enjoyed weekend Harley-Davidson rides with fellow Officers. He had an unending thirst for learning and was a graduate of Fitchburg State College, Anna Maria College, and the FBI National Academy for police executives. He treasured his many friendships and bonds forged in his years of service. As Chief, he oversaw the transition of the FPD to it's current building and he strove, along with his fellow Officers, to provide the City with professional policing. He was an Officer for 31 years, rising through the ranks to become Chief of Police in 1987. Thereafter, he was hired as a Police Officer with the Fitchburg Police Department (FPD), as part of a program to help Vietnam era vets transition to civilian life.
